EANA’s conference “Coronavirus: Changes and Chances” goes online VIDEO

The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) has launched its fall conference titled “Coronavirus: Changes and Chances” in an online format.
Due to the pandemic, the EANA Board decided to hold the conference in an online format, initially scheduled to take place in Kiev, Ukraine.
President of EANA, CEO of the German DPA news agency Peter Kropsch, EANA Secretary General Alexandru Giboi, CEO of British Press Association Clive Marshall, AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov, First Deputy Director General of the Russian TASS Mikhail Gusman, Director General of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) Armela Krasniqi, as well as representatives of Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, French Agence France-Presse (AFP) joined the online event.
Addressing the conference, Director General of Ukrinform Alexander Kharchenko said that the challenges posed by the coronavirus had prompted the media to make positive changes.
EANA President Peter Kropsch stressed the special need for accurate and quality news during the pandemic, emphasizing the growing demand for news agencies in societies.
The conference participants shared their experiences in the field of anti-pandemic activities and news production.
The conference will continue in the coming weeks.
EANA was founded on August 21, 1956 in connection with a conference on new media technology held in Strasbourg. The organization, which has a significant impact on global information policy, brings together 32 European news agencies. AZERTAC, a member of EANA since 2008, is closely involved in the organization's activity.
