ELIZABETH JONES: “THE MINSK GROUP WILL BE MORE ACTIVE”

As was reported by AzerTAj Washington-based correspondent, the US Secretary of State Mr. Colin Powel has also discussed the Nagorno Karabakh problem during the Moscow negotiations, Ms. Elizabeth Jones, the US Under-Secretary of State for issues of Europe and Asia stated in her meeting with the foreign media representatives. Noting, “as the Minsk Group co-chairs we have personal cooperation contacts in this field”, Ms. Jones said the talks included new proposals by the co-chairs to tackle the negotiation process with the Russian partners on Nagorno Karabakh.

Ms. Jones stated that both sides were given some proposals, but she did not disclose them. “We shall try to be as more active as possible and seek ways to bring the sides to constructive negotiations”, she stressed.

Commenting the report disseminated by “Human Rights Watch”, Ms. Jones said: “Release of 19 people is an important step. Legal proceeding on another ones is underway”.
