EXPANSION OF POWER SUB-STATION ENDED
Expansion of the sub-station and power line amounted €3 million. 2 million 600 thousand of this amount were paid by European Union, while 400 thousand – by the government of Azerbaijan.
Congratulating participants of the ceremony on the occasion of completion of the project on reconstruction of the Absheron-Mushfig power line at 220 kv and sub-station “Mushfig”, deputy prime minister said that yet in 1998 after the address of President Heydar Aliyev to the European Commission, the Country was allocated extra assistance at amount €30 million, at account of which was financed the said project.
Noting that the European Commission constantly pays attention to the development of energy net as one of the most important sphere of economy of the Country, and renders assistance, Mr. Abid Sharifov underlined that in the frame of the Program on restoration of the territories, liberated from occupancy, and extra assistance, this structure allocated for the energy system of the Republic as a grant €11 million. At account of the said means, was restored energy supply of the regions, suffered from war. In addition, was reinforced the energy system in Baku and Sumgait.
As known, the sub-station “Mushfig” is the major station supplying with power energy the Sabael, Yasamal and Garadag districts of Baku, population of which exceeds 200 thousand. Despite this, the sub-station did not satisfy the consumers at due level. Therefore, expansion of the sub-station and reconstruction of the lines, security provision were one of the important problems that Azerbaijan government faced.
Opening ceremony was attended by the newly appointed special envoy of the European Commission in Azerbaijan Antonius De Vris, ambassador of Italy in Baku Margarita Costa and ambassador of France in Baku Chantal Poiret, who noted that the key goal of the Program for extra assistance is to promote improvement of living conditions of the citizens of Azerbaijan and solving a number of issues. IT was specified that all these would be realized due to financing the projects of capital investment, established by in agreement between the European Union and Government of Azerbaijan.
