Baku, April 4, AZERTAC

The European Commission will allocate €119 million to Portugal for the renewal of the northern railway line on the Ovar-Gaia section.

The Ovar-Gaia section on the Northern railway line, part of the Trans-European Transport Network, will be modernized with almost €119 million ($133.31 million) of the EU funds. Passengers will enjoy shorter travel time, more comfortable conditions and increased safety on this axis.

The northern tip of the line is in Porto, and runs south to Ovar.

The modernization of the Ovar-Gaia section is part of the overall modernization project for the Northern Line, which is one of the priority actions to strengthen the competitiveness of the railway sector at the regional and national levels.
