Former Latvian President: Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity must be restored immediately
Baku, April 30 (AZERTAC). “Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity must be restored immediately,” said former President of Latvia, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and President of the Club de Madrid Vaira Vike-Freiberga as she spoke at a press conference on the outcomes the 2nd Global Shared Societies Forum in Baku.
Ms. Vike-Freiberga noted that the international law and principles of the territorial integrity demanded immediate restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
She said it was demanded in the UN Security Council resolutions too, pointing to mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries. The former Latvian leader urged the co-chair countries to find a solution to the Karabakh problem and restore Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, adding they can use both bilateral, tripartite or quadripartite formats. She said it was the stance of Latvia, adding “this was my stand when I was the president too, but unfortunately the problem has not yet been solved”.
