OFFICIAL NEWS
From Zsuzsanna Jakab, Regional Director of the World Health Organization
Dear Mr. President,
It is with great pleasure that I have been informed of your re-election as President of Azerbaijan. On my behalf and on behalf of the staff of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), please accept my warm congratulations.
We highly appreciate the personal attention you give to addressing health issues of your country which has resulted in noticeable achievements by the Republic of Azerbaijan during the last years. These achievements have also been made more prominent by awarding First Lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva with the Ihsan Dogramaci Family Health Foundation Prize for promoting and supporting child health care in her country.
Also, the Republic of Azerbaijan has been an active member in the governance of this Organization, through its presence on governing bodies over the past years. So much so, that at the moment, Azerbaijan is serving as a member of the WHO Executive Board. Still worthy of mention is the wonderful hospitality that you offered us and all the 53 member states of the WHO European Region in 2011 when you hosted the Sixty-second session of the Regional committee for Europe in Baku. There I had the honor to meet you personally when you officially opened the meeting.
Your Excellency, with all this history of collaboration, I am assured that we will continue the excellent cooperation that exists between Azerbaijan and WHO further in the coming years. We believe that your new term as President will serve to promote and strengthen the health of your population and we remain ready to support and assist you in this venture.
With my very best wishes and keen assurance that the World Health Organization is ready to offer every possible support to your country in the relevant fields. Please accept, Your Excellency Mr. President, the assurances of my highest consideration and deep respect.
Yours very truly,
Zsuzsanna Jakab, Regional Director of the World Health Organization
