“GREAT VOLGA ROAD” OPENS NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPERATION, MAYOR OF KAZAN BELIEVES
On the eve of departure, the head of the delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mayor of Kazan city Kamil Iskhakov in the interview with AzerTAj said, “Great Volga Road” project will promote further economic and cultural closeness and flourishing of our republics, open new opportunities for our cooperation. During the recent years of implementation of this big project, we went the way from the beginning of the highway in North European countries, via such cities as Stockholm, Helsinki, Riga, Tallin, St. Petersburg and then to Kazan, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Makhachkala and Derbent, following the road of our ancient forefathers. Now Baku has joined the list of these cities”.
This project has a few scientific and practical directions. Opening new, unknown pages of history and culture of the regions situated in geographical space of the Great Volga Road, it will regulate modern international and regional relations in economy, culture, science, business, and environment. The Volga-Caspian region is a part of historical heritage of mankind and world culture, having interregional and international importance. That is why usage of experience of the region in economic, intellectual and ethno-cultural development is very much important, he added.
The goal of realization is revival of interregional cooperation, education and culture for establishment and strengthening of cultural, confessional and political pluralism, the mechanism of development of the dialogue between different cultures and civilizations, the ways of creation, preservation and doubling of ethno-cultural and historic-architectural heritage, foundation of a tolerant, poly-ethnic and poly-confessional society.
The Baku conference has become a significant stage on the way of achievement of these aims, gave a chance to widely discuss the urgent issues of economic cooperation, inter-actions in history and culture.
