The government of France has expelled 52-year-old imam of mosque al-Farkan Abdelkader Bouzian. It was caused by the interview of Bouzian with the monthly “Lyon Mag”. In the interview, he expressed his radical views towards women. He wished France and the whole world were Islamic. He said that Koran allegedly allows husband to beat his wife and prohibits women from working along with men. He advocated polygamy as well.

The statement of imam having 16 children by two wives aroused dissatisfaction with women. They demanded law-enforcement bodies to expel him from France.

The government decided to expel imam to his native Algeria.

The authorities have expelled four other imams this year for preaching a strict form of Islam.
