I’M REALLY HAPPY TO BE IN BAKU, AZIZA MUSTAFAZADE
Renowned Azeri jazzwoman Aziza Mustafazade, who now lives abroad, and had come to Baku to give a solo concert on the sidelines of the international jazz festival, has rejected the rumors about her alleged unwillingness to come to the homeland. “It is nonsense. Baku is my native city, and I’m really happy to be here,” she told a press conference at the Baku Jazz Center on Sunday.
Asked whether she is planning to perform in Azerbaijan in the future, Aziza said it requires great responsibility of her as a daughter of Vagif Mustafazade. She added nobody, including herself, could replace him. “You can be worthy of him but your success will be relative. No two suns can exists in one [solar] system,” the jazzwoman said.
She pointed out that like mugham (Azeri fork music), Azeri jazz, which is based on it, is listened with great delight. “Mugham is something more than music, it really fascinates western public with its profundity,” Aziza Mustafazade said.
