INT’L CUSTOMS CONFERENCE HELD

An international conference attended by representatives of the customs services of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey and Georgia was held in Mangistau, Kazakhstan.

The agenda included problems at the customs checkpoints connected with increase of transportation cargos among the CIS countries, combat against smuggling, simplification of customs rules, creation of common information system and other issues.

As the result of activity of both local and foreign companies, goods turnover also rose at the Caspian region. This is connected both with transportation of energy recourses and delivery of equipments.

Activity of large oil companies is directly bound with simplification of customs rules. A new Customs Code comes into force in Kazakhstan. Recently Russia and Georgia will adopt new customs laws.

Speakers noted that customs rules of the CIS states and Baltic countries should be brought to conformity with the customs rules of the European customs rules.

Next conference is to be held in Georgia.
