International Chess Festival Nakhchivan Open 2013 kicks off in Azerbaijan
Baku, April 22 (AZERTAC). The International Chess Festival Nakhchivan Open 2013 dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev has today started in Azerbaijan.
The Festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Youth and Sport Ministry, Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Nakhchivan AR Chess Federation.
Players will be seeded in Tournament A if rated above 2250 FIDE (For Women above 2100 FIDE), while the lower rated players will compete in Tournament B. Both groups will be played over nine rounds of the Swiss system.
The tournament will last till May 1. Last year the winner was Moldovan grandmaster Viorel Iordachescu.
