On July 30, Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan, Namiq Abbasov received a delegation of the Antiterrorist Center of CIS, led by its head Boris Milnikov.

Greeting the delegation, Namiq Abbasov expressed satisfaction with opinions exchange held by members of the delegation in Baku, and said it was a good basis for the further co-operation between Ministry of National Security and Antiterrorist Center. Saying that terrorism combat is very urgent nowadays, the Minister pointed out that Azerbaijan has faced this dangerous phenomenon - Armenian - terrorism for recent years. He underlined positive role of Russian intelligence service in rendering aid to Azerbaijan while detaining criminals involved into committing terrorist acts. So, as a result of a joint action, Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan and Federal Security Bureay of the Russian Federation detained a number of representatives of Armenian special service in May of 194, accused with explosions in passenger trains moving by the route Baku-Moscow. These actions resulted by 47 dead and 87 injured. According to the recent data, as a result of terrorist acts committed by Armenians in the territory of Azerbaijan, 1568 died and 1808 citizens of Azerbaijan were injured.

Azerbaijan has always taken an active part in the international anti-terror operations. Since 1998, USA has regularly expressed gratitude to the leaders of Azerbaijan for assistance to combat against this evil. Between 194 and 2000, Azerbaijani special services prevented seven attempts of assassination of the President of Azerbaijan with the further state coup.

Azerbaijan is interested in development of co-operation with special services of different, and above all, with their Russian colleagues, the Minister said.

Touching upon the structural organization of Antiterrorist Center, Boris Milnikov said, it has been staffed by 85 percent, it has a Central Asian department was created with headquarters in Bishkek. Speaking on different aspects of cooperation, Boris Milnikov stated on necessity of creation of a specialized database in the Center.

After the meeting, Namiq Abasov and Boris Milnikov answered the questions of journalists. Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan pointed out that the meeting, opinion exchange laid a good basis for the further cooperation between the Ministry and Center and a few definite agreements have been achieved during the visit.
