NAGORNO KARABAKH IS AS WELL THE PROBLEM OF RUSSIANS LIVING IN AZERBAIJAN - READS THE LETTER OF THE RUSSIAN COMMUNITY OF SHAMKIR REGION TO SPOUSE OF THE RUSSIAN PRESIDENT LUDMILA PUTINA

Representatives of the Russian community of Shamkir region sent a letter to the spouse of the President of the Russian Federation Ludmila Putina, paying a visit to Baku on September 20.

Reminding that they were offspring of Russians, placed in that region of Azerbaijan from different provinces of Russia on the eve of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), the authors of the letter point out that Azerbaijan has become their motherland, they were born here, grew up, educated, and married.

The letter reads that after Vladimir Putin was elected as President of the Russian Federation, a double standards attitude towards the Karabakh problem was put end in Russia, and it raised satisfaction among public of Azerbaijan and Russian peaking population among them. Due to official visits of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Baku and our President Heydar Aliyev’s to Moscow, there was laid a safe basis for development of friendship and cooperation between our states.

Russians from Shamkir region, underlining that they were citizens of Azerbaijan and do not feel any discrimination, pointed out care about Russian language and culture on behalf of the state, and their active participation in public and political life of the country.

Nagorno Karabakh is as well the problem of Russians living in Azerbaijan. As a result of the fact that Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands withdrawn over 1 million of people from their homes, everyone in Azerbaijan felt violation of normal rhythm of life, increase of problems. Armenia is still going on its invasion policy and causes all kinds of obstacles to fair settlement of Nagorno Karabkh problem according to international and legal norms.

Russians from Shamkir region as well as our compatriots living all over Azerbaijan are sure that you, taking into account the request of your brothers and sisters, citizens of Azerbaijan, will use your opportunities for achievement of fair resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
