OPENING CEREMONY OF THE BAKU METRO STATION “HAZI ASLANOV” HELD
Opening ceremony of “Hazi Aslanov” station of Baku Metro, with participation of the EU delegation being on visit in Azerbaijan was held on July 7. Head of Baku Metro Administration Tagi Ahmadov congratulated constructors of this station and passengers, expressed his gratitude to the European Union, having rendered financial assistance to the construction. Tagi Ahmadov informed that about Euro4.1 millions were spent to the construction of 20th Baku Metro station “Hazi Aslanov”. He said that more than 200 thousand people would use the station which is also an architectural monument created by Rasim Aliyev and Akif Abdullayev. Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov thanked the EU representatives on behalf of the Azerbaijan Government, reminded of a number of important projects, implemented in Azerbaijan with the financial assistance of EU, in the frameworks of TACIS, TRACECA, INOGATE and other programs. Head of the delegation, EU Deputy State Secretary on foreign affairs Ms. Margherita Boniver and Deputy Chief of Gief Administration of the European Commission Michel Leigh said that it was a great honor for them to participate in this event, stressed that this project, financed by Azerbaijan Government and European Commission is the sample of further development and strengthening of cooperation between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Europe. They noted that financial assistance would be rendered as well to other projects, to be implemented in Azerbaijan in the frameworks of European Commission. Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Head of the Baku Mayoral Hajibala Abutalibov, ambassadors of Italy, France, and Germany to Azerbaijan participated in the ceremony.
