PARTIES KEEN IN DEVELOPMENT OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
As stated, Samad Seyidov in detail informed visitors on legal, economic, social and political reforms in Azerbaijan. H e told: “After restoration of independence, Azerbaijan integrates into Europe and is today the most advanced country in the South Caucasus. Our republic is interested in cooperation with the countries of the world, including the Baltic republics. In the Milli Majlis, there are groups of friendship with parliaments of the states of the world.
Head of the standing committee has told in detail told about the reasons, heavy consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorny Karabakh conflict, on the fair position of Azerbaijan and destructive position of Armenia in the decision of the problem.
Having thanked for warm reception and detailed information, Mr Andris Teikmanis has told: “After restoration of independence, Latvia and other Baltic countries integrate into Europe. Our country also is interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan. In the near future, Latvia becomes a full member of the European Union and the NATO. Official Riga can assist Azerbaijan in these questions.
The Baltic republics watch closely the processes proceeding on the South Caucasus. We support the prompt peace settlement of the Nagorny Karabakh conflict within the framework of international legal norms. In the summer of this year, the President of Latvia will visit South Caucasus during which a number of documents concerning development of bilateral relations will be signed.
Then, the parties exchanged views on a number of other questions representing mutual interest.
At a meeting, there were members of group of friendship of Milli Majlis with the Latvian parliament, the ambassador of Latvia in Azerbaijan, other officials.
