POLLING STATIONS PROVIDED WITH RELIABLE TELEPHONE LINES
According to the Ministry’s press-service, telephones have been installed in all 4995 polling stations of 124 election precincts. To this end, 590 modern radiotelephones and 180 cellular phones are in use. It became possible due to technical policy pursued by the Communications Ministry for the last years and application of up-to-date technologies and fiber-optic cables.
When installing telephones up-to-date automatic telephone exchange numbers, cables, connected to computers for high-level organization of information transmission from polling stations to the center were checked out and brought to conformity with technical requirements.
10 days ahead of elections, cities administrations were provided with the direct telephone line with the trunk switchboard operating 24-hours a day. Troubleshooting is completed in the city village dial exchanges, trunk and international communication and reserve lines are prepared. At present, information transmission between the informational center “Elections” and polling stations is being tested. As a whole, all elections precincts and districts are provided with state-of-a-art communication technologies.
