PRIME MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVED ANTONIO MARIA COSTA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIME AND THE UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS
Cordially greeting the guest, the Prime Minister appreciated his visit to Baku to attend the 5th meeting of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on sub-regional Drug Control Cooperation.
Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for warm reception, Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, noted the arrangements undertaken against drug circulation in the Country are efficient, stressing that the said problem is not global for Azerbaijan. Noting that the quantities of drugs seized in Azerbaijan are yet low, he said that it was mainly connected with the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. As known, these territories are not under the control of the Government of the Republic.
Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh spoke of the actions of the Azerbaijani state in this field, saying that the Country has joined many international Conventions on illegal drugs circulation that is a misfortune of humanity.
Mr. Antonio Maria Costa gave a high assessment to the activity of the Azerbaijan State Commission on combat against illegal drug circulation.
Also participating was at the reception Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov and ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria Vagif Sadigov.
