SOCAR & DEPA START NEGOTIATING
/BSEC/ will be held in Baku, on September 18-19. BSEC Secretary, heads of the State Secretariat of the European Energy Charter, representatives of oil and gas companies will attend the sitting to discuss cooperation in the framework of BSEC, opportunities of the member states in development of East-West transport corridor, and other issues of mutual interest.
According to the Embassy of Greece in Baku, head of the strategic planning of the gas company DEPA Vassilios Sombanopulos is also expected to be among the members of Greece delegation. Depa representatives will negotiate with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan /SOCAR/ concerning transportation of Shah Daniz gas via Turkey and Greece to other European countries.
It should be reminded that during his visit to Baku, on April 2003, Mr. Sombanopulos noted that Greece would start importing Shah Daniz gas in 2006. According to him, Greece is prepared to receive 2-3 bln cubic meters of gas with increasing this volume in future. V. Sombanopulos stated that Italy is ready to buy gas transported via pipelines of Turkey and Greece: the relevant contract was signed with Italian “ Edison gas”.
