On September 17, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Ambassador of Spain to Turkey Manuel Dela Camor in the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.

M.Camor: Mr. Prime Minister, nice to meet you again. You look very good, no changes. Two years passed that we have met last. I have brought you greeting from Mr. Asnar, Prime Minister and his congratulations.

Ilham Aliyev: Thank you, please convey my gratitude to Prime Minister.

M. Camor: It is for the first time we have a delegation of business people from Spain. Mr. Morales, he is the head of the foreign council of our entrepreneurs confederation, And he is for the first time in Azerbaijan and I think it is very important to increase our relations which are not very strong in the economic side, they are very good in political side but not very good in the economic side. We hope that we can increase these relations.

Ilham Aliyev: Very good. Mr. Ambassador I would like to encourage business community of Spain to be more active in Azerbaijan. Now we are implementing a lot of projects, a lot of foreign investments are coming to our country, to be more precise almost 15 billion dollars have been invested in Azerbaijan. Moreover, during the upcoming three years, almost 10 billion dollars are planned to be invested. We are among the leaders in former Soviet Union according to amount of foreign investments per capita. Investment protection is also at a very high level, otherwise businessmen would never risk. We have a lot of foreign people, expatriots, who live in Azerbaijan for many years and they have safe environment and good investment climate and we have good climate, excellent nature. Spanish businessmen would never regret.

M. Camor: Actually we have brought the only Spanish investor in Azerbaijan. He is a man from northern Catalonia. He is producing haslets. Nevertheless, we think as you said it is very important, because apart of other sectors there are many sectors that have opportunities. Tomorrow we have a meeting in the national entrepreneurship confederation, where we are going to discuss the agreement to see if we have opportunities to increase the relationships.

Ilham Aliyev: Very good, there is a big potential in non-oil sector. In addition, it is good that it is developing, especially agriculture. We have recently had a very big ceremony of opening of a new processing factory in the north of Azerbaijan with investments of more than 10 million dollars. It is good for the country, people who are involved into agriculture to create as many as possible local factories, in order to produce. We have very good climate, nature, everything. We encourage businessmen to invest.
