‘There is no competition between Nabucco and AGRI’
Baku, October 14 (AZERTAC). “There is no competition between Nabucco and AGRI,” said state secretary for the Romanian Foreign Ministry Bogdan Auresku.
“Azerbaijan takes part in AGRI as the supplier, Georgia ensures gas transportation, Romania and Hungary ensure gas transit further via the Arad-Seged pipeline which will soon be officially opened and ensure the transit of Caspian hydrocarbon resources to Europe, thus reducing the gas dependence of the European states. Romania is one of the countries that has founded AGRI project.”
According to Auresku, the Nabucco project also remains extremely important for Romania and there is no competition between Nabucco and AGRI.
“On the contrary, we have already noted that they supplement each other and voice hope for the soonest progress in Nabucco implementation. In fact, definite steps have recently been noted in terms of its financing. We actively support both projects, which are part of the line of the South corridor of the European Union,” the diplomat said.
Speaking about Romania`s policy in the Black Sea, the Romanian diplomat noted that the primary in this context is the aspect of energy security.
“It is connected with the relations of Romania with the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. I mean the countries as Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan related to which Romania has interests regarding not only Nabucco and AGRI but also the future of the use of terminal of liquefied natural gas in Constance, whose feasibility study is expected to be ready by the end of the year. In addition, we are watching projects related to the transportation of oil from these spheres to Europe.”
This implies the pan-European oil pipeline (PEOP) which is also in the area of our attention. There are also other important aspects in the Black Sea. The matter in this context may also be about the project of Dunai Strategy which is related to the Black Sea but it is also the strategy which will be concentrated in the Dunai region and the development of Dunai states”, the Romanian diplomat said.
