Three cops among 25 martyred in Lahore 'suicide' blast

At least 25 people, including three policemen and a woman were martyred and 53 others injured in an explosion at the Kot Lakhpat vegetable market near Arfa Karim Software Technology Park in Lahore, Pakistan, on Monday, according to the Pakistani “The Express Tribune” newspaper.
The attack, which according to a police official was a suicide blast, occurred at the entrance of the market on Ferozepur Road.
Most of the casualties were police officers and some bystanders, Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan put the death toll at 14 in a press conference minutes after the attack.
“It is not yet confirmed if it is an incident of terrorism or an accidental explosion,” the interior minister added.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned the area and began the investigation. A contingent of Pakistan Army also reached the blast site.
