U.S. AMBASSADOR OPENS NEW CLASSROOMS IN BAYIL REGIONAL SCHOOL
The U.S. Embassy has completed the construction of three additional classrooms for the Zangilian secondary school . The newly-enlarged building will serve over 100 children of IDP families in the Bayil region. Ambassador Reno Harnish and Azerbaijani government officials from the Sabail District Executive Committee were participate in an opening ceremony for the new classrooms at the school on Tuesday.
“I am very happy to support this project and provide better educational opportunities for these refugee children,” stated Ambassador Harnish.
The project provides three additional classrooms to the school. With the new rooms, the school can accommodate more than twice as many students. The project also provided desks, chalkboards and other equipment for the school. The construction of these classrooms was funded by the U.S. Department of State through the Ambassador’s Special Program Fund and coordinated in partnership with the non-profit organization World Hope. This is the third school construction project in Azerbaijan funded by the United States Government.
