U.S. Independence Day marked in Baku

Embassy of the United States to Azerbaijan has hosted an official reception on the occasion of the United States Independence Day.
US Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan William Gill said Azerbaijan and the US can build a better future for the two countries and the world thanks to the cooperation.
The diplomat stressed that the 242nd anniversary of US independence is celebrated this year.
He also noted this year the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is celebrated in the country and this is of special significance, he added.
"Since the day of gaining independence, the US has always supported Azerbaijan."
"The US continues to support independent and stable Azerbaijan through cooperation," he added.
The diplomat said Azerbaijan and the US can build a better future for the two countries and the world.
Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov congratulated the American people on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan.
He further commented Baku appreciates the US government's support for the implementation of energy projects with the participation of Azerbaijan.
"The US-Azerbaijan relations are developing within the interests of the two countries in accordance with the principles of equal partnership and cover different spheres," he said.
Sharifov stressed that the expansion of the political dialogue serves the development of relations between the two countries.
"The US constantly supports transnational energy projects, which are being implemented on the initiative and with the participation of Azerbaijan," the minister said.
"The relations in this sphere are of a strategic nature and meet the interests of both the US and Azerbaijan."
"We appreciate the support of the US government for the implementation of energy projects with the participation of Azerbaijan," he concluded.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the minister said this problem is one of the main causes that threats the regional security.
The event brought together state and governmental officials, MPs, representatives of foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan.
