UZBEKISTAN-RUSSIA SIGN GAS DEAL
Head of Russian Gazpom Aleksei Miller has visited Uzbekistan. In the meeting with President Islam Karomov exchanged were views on expansion of ties between oil-gas companies of both countries, transportation of natural gas to Russia, reconstruction of gas main “Central Asia-Center”, and application in the said sphere of new technology and other questions.
On completion of meeting, Gazprom and Uzbekneftgaz signed agreement on sale of gas, as well as on expenses for transit through the territory of Uzbekistan.
According to the Agreement, Gazprom will purchase every 1000 cubic meters of Uzbek gas at 60 dollars.
Currently, Uzbekistan annually produces 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 5 billion cubic meters of which are sold to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Sale of natural gas to Russia began since 2003. In 2005, Russia purchased from Uzbekistan 8 billion cubic meters of gas. Current year Gazprom will receive from Uzbekistan 9 billion cubic meters of gas.
