® B2B Forum featuring Latvian, Estonian and Finnish companies held in Azerbaijan

A B2B forum focused on the discussion of “Education and Green Technology”, and co-organized by Caspian Energy Club, Latvian and Estonian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Finnish Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, has taken place, said Gunel Guliyeva, Caspian Energy Club International Managing Director.

The forum held for the second time in Azerbaijan within the framework of the LEF Network Azerbaijan program was attended by officials of a number of government agencies from Azerbaijan and the Baltic states, representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as top managers and representatives of the Caspian Energy Club member companies.

Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan Peter Michalko, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja, Head of the Estonian Embassy office in the Azerbaijan Republic Jaak Lensment, and Caspian Energy Club First Deputy Chairman and CFO Rasim Mahmudov delivered welcoming speeches at the event.

Chairman of the Board of Caspian Energy Club and Group CEO Telman Aliyev presented an honorary membership certificate to Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in the Republic of Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja who was present at the event.

Officials of 15 education and green technology companies who gathered together to establish close business partnership and get informed about local business climate in the field of education and green technologies sectors, took an active part in the mentioned forum and the following B2B meetings.

Every company participating in the event was provided an opportunity to make a presentation in the first part of the forum. The second part continued with the conduction of B2B meetings. “We are confident that B2B meetings will be useful both for local companies wishing to operate in Latvia, Estonia and Finland, as well as for companies representing these countries to expand their activities here in Azerbaijan,” Gunel Guliyeva noted.

Participating in the B2B forum were Imants Bergs, Chairman of the Board of Turība University, Zane Svilāne, Head of Student recruitment unit at University of Latvia, Visvaldis Gercāns, IT Sales Manager at Jāņa sēta Ltd, Maris Egle, Director of Water Riga Ltd, Sandra Bukāne, CEO of Hydrokapillar Tech Ltd, Salome Virkus, CEO of the Estonian company SpeakTX, Kadri Haljas, CEO of Triumph Research, Asko Berens, CEO of Navicup, Sven Aabreldaal and Thomas Hedström, CEOs of PBLC Nordic, Rein Oselin, CEO of Järvamaa KHK, Jaana Kalliokoski, CEO of Helmi Learning Oy (Finland), Becky Luoma, CEO of Language Clubhouse Oy, Evan Schoombie, Educator and Marketer at Länsi-Suomen opisto/West Finland College, Sami Kaisko, Deputy Director of Lauttakylän lukio, Henri Hirvikoski, CFO of Finest Future, and Arvo Nerman, CEO of Finnish Water Forum.

In the course of the Forum focused on the discussion of the Estonian education system’s role in the development of the young generation, the participants were presented broad information about education programs targeting technological literacy from preschool to high-school levels, bridging of public-private collaboration for preschool education in Estonia, and about certain advanced technologies applied in the Estonian education sector.

The B2B Forum participants were also informed about the local education system in Finland, the country’s experience in environmental protection, high-quality clean technologies, as well as in the use of renewable energy technologies.

The participants also had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the progress of development of green technologies in Latvia, success gained in this sector, modern production and service enterprises meeting international standards and requirements, as well as innovations driven by the scientific-technological development.

The event continued with the networking part meant for establishing and maintaining informal communication between the participants, and for holding discussions over projects.

It is noteworthy that a 3 year LEF Network Azerbaijan project is aimed at developing economic cooperation between Azerbaijan, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. The project launched last year will support green technology, IT and education companies in the upcoming 3 years.

According to Gunel Guliyeva, in addition to B2B meetings, different business tours have been arranged for companies which are on a business visit to Azerbaijan. “Green technology companies visited Baku Water Week, education sector companies were the guests of the European Azerbaijan School and the representative of the University of Latvia was invited to ADA University,” Gunel Guliyeva said.

Established in June 2002, Caspian Energy Club brings together over 5,000 companies and organizations across 50 countries. As an active participant of the business-to-government dialogue, the major objective of Caspian Energy Club is to improve investment and business climate in Azerbaijan and in other countries where the Club operates, as well as to encourage and actively engage in B2G, B2B and B2C dialogues.
