Former President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic, who was on a visit to Baku to participate in the 11th Global Baku Forum, met with the staff of My Azerbaijan International Magazine.

The meeting took place at the Head Office of My Azerbaijan International Magazine. Emil Nasirli, the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal and Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Sciences, greeted the ex-President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic and recalled with pleasure their meetings at previous forums held in Baku. During the conversation, Emil Nasirli discussed the activities of the international magazine, ongoing projects to improve information exchange with local and international organizations, as well as the increase in the number of influential people in the world elected as honorary members of the international magazine over the past years, spoke about the successes in presenting to a wide readership interviews with these persons and exchange views on successful steps taken in relations between countries, their comments and statements through the magazine.

Editor-in-chief Emil Nasirli noted that the official visits of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the Republic of Croatia during the time when Ivo Josipovic was the President of Croatia were of great importance in terms of expanding relations between the two countries. “Today, Croatia and Azerbaijan are linked by a strategic partnership that is expanding and strengthening.” Emil Nasirli also added that the agreement signed in Zagreb at that time shows that the development of cultural ties between the two countries was stimulated at a high level. Issues of developing relations in this area were also discussed at the meeting. An exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation in pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, agriculture, information technology and other areas also took place. “I think that the expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia in various fields is important for both countries, and today the political dialogue is very active. This shows that Croatia and Azerbaijan are truly strategic partners. This cooperation was useful for our countries, and today there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in other areas. Parliamentary relations play an important role in cooperation between Azerbaijan and Croatia," Emil Nasirli emphasized.

Emil Nasirli also noted that the bilateral relations are developing not only in the bilateral sphere, but also within the framework of the European Union and NATO. In addition, the two countries can cooperate in the field of information technology. Emil Nasirli also emphasized that the COP29 Conference, which will be held in Baku in November this year, will be more successful than the conferences organized so far, and especially noted that the role played by this conference in recognizing the role of Azerbaijan at the international level is invaluable.

Former President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic said that he follows with great interest the materials published on the pages of My Azerbaijan International Magazine, especially analyzes reflecting the attitude of international experts to the processes taking place in the world. Then, ex-President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic got acquainted with the photo stand at the editorial office’s head office, covering the activities of My Azerbaijan International Magazine over the past years.

Stating at the meeting that the Global Baku Forum is an important international platform, Ivo Josipovic noted: “It is a great honor for me to participate in this Forum. I thank President Ilham Aliyev for holding the event at a high level.”

A wide exchange of views took place at the meeting on the importance of expanding relations between the leading media of the Republic of Croatia and My Azerbaijan International Magazine in the area of information exchange, the importance of the contribution of these relations to the use of the necessary means to promote Croatia in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan in Croatia, as well as satisfaction with the cooperation between the two countries was voiced. It was also noted at the meeting that cooperation in the field of cultural, humanitarian, sports and youth policies also meets the interests of both countries.

Further, according to tradition, former President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic, being a guest of the Editorial Office of My Azerbaijan International Magazine in 2024, expressed his heartfelt gratitude in the magazine’s Honorary Memorial Book.
