Alriyadh newspaper: Azerbaijanis welcome Ramadan

Riyadh, June 12, AZERTAC
Saudi Arabian newspaper Alriyadh has posted an article highlighting Ramadan traditions in Azerbaijan. “The holy month of Ramadan embodies a state of unity among Muslims around the world. Azerbaijan is one of the most prominent Islamic countries in Europe and its traditions and customs are closest to the Arab countries,” the newspaper says.
“During Ramadan, Azerbaijanis don’t organize wedding ceremonies in respect for the holy month. Azerbaijanis have Iftar together, support the needy, visit orphanages and elderlies, gather to read Quran, and listen to Quran stories.”
“At Iftar there’s always an “extra dish” on the table in anticipation of any visitor. Among the most popular Azerbaijani dishes are dolma and plov. Hundreds of Azerbaijani Muslims pray in the mosques, they sometimes even organize mass Iftars,” the newspaper says.
