American tourist speaks about the beauty of Azerbaijan VIDEO

An American travel enthusiast from the state of Missouri Mary Clark who frequently travels to different parts of the world and blogs about her experiences, visited Azerbaijan. Mary’s experiences are chronicled in her blog and some appear in St. Louis Post Dispatch’s Travel section.
While in Azerbaijan, Mary enjoyed sightseeing in the capital of the country Baku, visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites in Icheri Sheher, including the Maiden Tower and Palace of Shirvanshahs, and took a week-long road trip to the Shemakha, Lahic (Ismayilli), Gebele, Zagatala, Gakh and Sheki. She got to visit many historical sites, including Sheki Khans’ Palace and the Caucasian Albanian Church in Kish, and was introduced to historical artifacts of Azerbaijan. Mary Clark enjoyed her trip and promised to return to Azerbaijan in the near future:
Mary Clark: “I came to Azerbaijan two weeks ago. I had never been here before and I didn’t really know too much about the region. I found the people to be spontaneous and happy; I found the food to be delicious. It was a very wonderful place to visit and I would really encourage people to visit here. I think I was a little afraid that this was a former Soviet Union, but the government today seems to be doing an exceptionally good job. …And having all the people of all the religions work together and live together. I went out to the countryside and I got to see the beauty of the country and people, the beauty of the mountains in the northern part of the country. And the food there, again, was wonderful. And I got to go to the first Christian church in existence in Kish and that was a wonderful experience. I took many pictures that I’m going to share with everybody back in the US. I really enjoyed coming here and I would come back here again some day.”
