ATTEMPTS TO CREATE HOSTILITY WILL BE SUPPRESSED
According to the Ministry’s press-service, during his travel to Teheran A. Gazai updated president of the IRI M. Khatami, Foreign Minister K. Kharrazi and Security Minister A. Yunesi on presidential elections in Azerbaijan and today’s situation of bilateral relations, and Azerbaijan’s concern about the Iranian “Sahar-2” TV channel’s related telecasts. It was noted that news aired in “Sahar-2” does not reflect the official standpoint of IRI as to the presidential relations in Azerbaijan and state bodies of Iran will take necessary measures to prevent these facts having negative impact on relationship between the countries.
Minister of National Security Namig Abbasov pointed out the efforts taken for the last years by the two countries’ leaders towards expansion of interstate Azerbaijan-Iran ties, and stressed that there were no alternatives to positive relationship development. The Minister pinpointed the importance of measures aimed at preventing the attempts of certain forces in Azerbaijan and Iran to hurt the relations.
