AZERBAIJAN – EUROPEAN UNION RELATIONS DEVELOP IN THE LINE OF ASCENT
The EU delegation staying for a visit in Azerbaijan met on July 8 with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Vilayat Guliyev. Congratulating the head of the delegation on her country’s presidency of the European Union, the Minister noted that the presidency of such advanced country as Italy would play an important role for development of relations between the countries joining the co-operation agreement with this international organization. “Azerbaijan attaches a special significance to the relations with European Union, and this is supported by the EU’s adherence to solve Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Garabakh conflict by peace way in the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” he said.Minister Vilayat Guliyev also highly appreciated the activity of Greek ex-presidency of the European Union.Head of EU delegation Mrs. Margherita Boniver said in her turn that the main goal of the visit was expanding relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan, and reaffirmed that giving special attention to the Southern Caucasus region, the EU stands for resolution of the regional conflict by peace way and on the principles of territorial integrity of each state. Mrs Boniver added as well that she would promote further progress and prevention of the possible conflicts in the region.
