Azerbaijan and ECO discuss cooperation in combating climate change

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The meeting focused on the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the ECO, exploring prospects for collaboration in addressing climate change, as well as Azerbaijan's role as COP29 President.
They recalled their previous meeting during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly and noted that such contacts are vital for discussing cooperation issues.
The importance of advancing initiatives related to environmental protection and green energy within the ECO framework was emphasized.
Asad Majeed Khan congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful organization of COP29 and wished the country success in its presidency.
Both sides underscored the significance of implementing joint initiatives under the COP29 framework to support regional and global climate efforts.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
