AZERBAIJAN, EC: DEVELOPMENT OF RELATIONS FOCUSED
Otay Asadov spoke of cooperation with the structure and the assistance it renders to the country. Since 1993, the European Commission has rendered to Azerbaijan assistance at amount 400 million Euros, he underlined. Currently TRACECA, TACIS, INOGATE and other projects are being implemented. Only in the frame of INOGATE project, Azerbaijan will receive 50 million Euros. Official Baku takes active part in the EC’s European Neighborhood Policy project. Azerbaijan is the neighbor of Europe and a member of the European family. We hope our relations with all the European structures, and also with the European Commission will further develop. The government of Azerbaijan does its best for this.
Mr. Alan Waddams expressed gratitude for kind words, saying he had presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev the day before. Noting he is pleased with his appointment to Azerbaijan Waddams said he would do his best for integration of Azerbaijan in Europe and for development of these ties. Currently the European Commission implements some projects and Azerbaijan seriously regards them, which is highly estimated by the EC.
The sides had comprehensive exchange of views on a number of other questions of mutual interest.
