Azerbaijan improves prison conditions
Baku, June 13 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan works on improving prison conditions.
Deputy Justice Minister and Chief of the Penitentiary Service Madat Guliyev met with the program coordinator of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Ms. Sylvie Gryanisher and representative programs for the protection of this structure by Mrs. Valentina Kim.
The Deputy Minister spoke about the activities of the service work done to improve prison conditions and appreciated the cooperation with the ICRC's Penitentiary Service, informed the Department of Public Relations of the Prison Service.
Mrs. Sylvie Gryanisher reported that the program implemented by the committee that she represents, the disabled, prisoners was provided orthopedic care in 2009-2010.
ICRC representatives have received answers to their questions about the employment of prisoners, vocational education and training, and community integration of persons released from prison, a number of challenges related to their social adjustment, an exchange of views.
Deputy Head of the Artificial Limb and Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Abdullaev, Deputy chief of the Penitentiary Service G. Alikhanov, Head of Public Relations M. Sadigov and senior inspector on the educational work N. Tahirov attended the event.
