Azerbaijan, Malaysia discuss prospects for interparliamentary cooperation

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Malaysia Galey Allahverdiyev has met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the country’s Parliament Dato’ Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof to discuss prospects for interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Allahverdiyev congratulated Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof on his election as Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament and extended Speaker of Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov’s greetings and congratulations to him.
The ambassador hailed the current level of Azerbaijan-Malaysia interparliamentary relations, underlining the interparliamentary friendship groups’ crucial role in terms of the development of these ties.
The Azerbaijani Ambassador pointed to the successful socio-economic reforms, as well as the global energy and transport projects implemented and initiated by Azerbaijan, saying that the country has already become an important transport hub.
Ambassador Allahverdiyev pointed out the favorable environment created for foreign investors in Azerbaijan, hailing the Malaysian national oil company Petronas’ successful activity in the country.
The ambassador also commended Malaysia for supporting Azerbaijan’s stance on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan.
Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Malaysia’s Parliament Dato’ Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof described Azerbaijan as an important partner to Malaysia, and emphasized the constantly expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.
