On September 9, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Vilayat Guliyev met with head of mission of the Bureau of human rights of OSCE for monitoring the elections Peter Ayher.

Minister Vilayat Guliyev pointed out that it is for the first time that elections of October 15 are being held in a state - member of the European family, and holding them in fair and democratic situation is of great importance for our country, press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

Underlining that Azerbaijan considers important the cooperation with related international organizations in foundation of democratic society, Minister announced that representatives of many countries and international structures have been invited to Azerbaijan to monitor Presidential elections. Minister expressed confidence that new Electoral Code creates opportunities for elections in the country to be held in free and democratic situation.

Expressing gratitude for detailed information, Peter Ayher informed the Minister on work done in the field of improvements in electoral process and expressed a hope for continuation of fruitful cooperation with the Azerbaijani part for holding free and fair elections.

Besides, a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
