AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES US DELEGATION LED BY DEPUTY SECRETARY OF COMMERCE JOHN SULLIVAN
On October 29, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev received a US delegation led by Deputy Secretary of Commerce John Sullivan.
The Azerbaijani President said relations between Azerbaijan and the United States continue to develop in various spheres successfully.
He said the current visit by the US delegation is a good opportunity to discuss economic cooperation, which, he added, is part of the two countries’ multi-faceted relations.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the trip, which he described as short but having a rich itinerary, will contribute to expanding Azerbaijan-US bilateral relations.
Joining U.S. President George Bush’s congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on his re-election, Deputy Secretary of Commerce John Sullivan extended his personal greetings and those from Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez to the Azerbaijani leader.
Touching on the World Bank`s report on economic reforms underway in Azerbaijan, John Sullivan said a very favorable business environment had been created in Azerbaijan thanks to the programs and policy carried out in the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader thanked Mr. Sullivan for the congratulations.
He stressed the fact that Azerbaijan`s business environment had been praised by such a reputable international financial organization as the World Bank is the result of the country’s successful economic policy. The President pointed out that widening economic reforms and lessening dependence on energy factor to the maximum extent is the country’s key priority today.
