AZERBAIJAN TEAM WON WORLD FREE-WRESTLING CUP
The first day of contests held in “B” group between Russia-Iran, Russia-Cuba teams ended with Russians victory.
On April 4, Azerbaijan team beat Canadians with score 6:1; team of Cuba defeated Canadians as well and took the third place.
Olympic champion Namig Abdullayev /55kg/ beat Zharzhal Dondukov with score 4:2, Adil Ibrahimov / 60kg/ yielded to Russian Ramil Ismayilov with 4:2, Elman Asgarov /66kg/ beat Dmitry Kirillov with score 4:2, Elshad Allahverdiyev /74kg/ yielded to Sergey Vitrovsky with 5:2, Vugar Kurbanov / 84kg/ beat Teymuraz Kochiyev with 4:3, Rustam Agayev /96kg/ beat Aleksey Shemarov with 3:2, Nikolay Telegin / 120kg/ yielded to Russian David Musulbes with 3:4.
Thus, Azerbaijan team with score 4: 3 for the first time in CIS became winner of World Free Wrestling Cup, while the Russians took the second, the Cubans - the third places.
President of International Wrestling Federation Rafael Martinetti, President of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Abbas Abasov, Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev presented the Cup and medals to team-winner. The best player of contests was Namig Abdullayev - who received 5 thousand Swiss franc.
Prize fund of World Cup is 120 thousand dollars, 50 of which will get team of Azerbaijan, 40 - team of Russia, 30 thousand- Cubans.
