Azerbaijani ambassador presents credentials to President of Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council

Elkhan Polukhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan, presented his credentials to Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan.
Elkhan Polukhov conveyed the greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan welcomed the official visit of the Sudanese leader to Azerbaijan in October 2019, as well as his working visit to attend the COP29 World Leaders Summit in November 2024.
The diplomat emphasized that Azerbaijan is always ready to further develop bilateral relations, recalling the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in April 2025.
He also expressed gratitude to the Sudanese side for its support and principled position on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, adding that Azerbaijan firmly supports Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The sides hailed the current level of bilateral relations, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation within international organizations, particularly the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Elkhan Polukhov underscored that Azerbaijan would chair the OIC in 2027 and expressed hope that Sudan would participate actively in the next Islamic Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan.
Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan asked the ambassador to convey his greetings and best wishes to President Ilham Aliyev.
He also stated that Sudan is keen to further develop cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of their peoples.
The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council emphasized that he would like to attend the OIC Summit to be held in Azerbaijan in 2027, subject to his schedule.
Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov signed the memorial book and gave an interview to the local press.
