Azerbaijani FM meets with incoming Malaysian ambassador

On August 27, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
The Malaysian ambassador presented a copy of her credentials to the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister. Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani on her appointment and wished the diplomat success in her diplomatic mission.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Malaysia bilateral relations, as well as issues on the multilateral agenda. In this regard, the officials discussed expanding cooperation in the economic, trade, tourism, education, and other areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s transit and logistics capabilities and its role in ensuring energy security.
Regarding bilateral cooperation within international organizations, the Azerbaijani FM stressed the importance of mutual support at the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
The sides noted that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia are also reflected in mutual support and solidarity within multilateral platforms.
They also discussed preparations for the upcoming Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to be held in Baku this year. Jeyhun Bayramov also noted that Azerbaijan will host the OIC Summit in 2027.
The FM subsequently briefed the Malaysian ambassador on the current situation in the region, as well as Azerbaijan’s ongoing restoration efforts in the post-conflict period.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Ghani said she would do her utmost to further strengthen friendly Azerbaijan-Malaysia relations and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation during her diplomatic mission.
The meeting also addressed other matters of mutual concern.
