AZERBAIJANI HOCKEY PLAYERS TO LEAVE FOR BARCELONA
Addressing the ceremony, Vice-President of Azerbaijan Field Hockey Federation Namig Aliyev told on the course of the team’s preparation for this important contest stressing that the girls had intensive trainings and have held a number of matches with one of German teams. Before the start of championship, Azerbaijan team will play several games with strongest European teams.
According to the first Vice-President of NOC, Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, President of NOC Ilham Aliyev attaches an important significance to development of sport. Azerbaijan volleyball and hockey players have achieved very good results within the past years. According to the Minister, a field hockey stadium, which is now being built, will meet the world standards. The NOC sets the Azerbaijani girls the task to succeed in Barcelona and gain license for upcoming Olympic games, he said.
President of Azerbaijan Field Hockey Federation Fazil Mammadov noted that successful performance in Barcelona would be dedicated to the momentous event when during October 15 Presidential elections, our people will once again vote for Heydar Aliyev.
