AZERBAIJANI PEOPLE TOLERANT TO OTHER RELIGIONS
World Islamic People’s Leadership Organization with the participation of 100 religious representatives from 29 world countries held a regular international conference entitled‘Dialogue in the Islam’, in Paris, on June 27-29.Discussed were the processes taking place in Islam at the present. In his speech, Chairman of Moslems Clerical Office of the Caucasus Sheik-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh dwelt on religious situation in the country, dialogue and relations between the religions in the country and noted that the Azerbaijanis lived in goods relations with the representatives of national minorities, and that three main confessions – Islam, Christianity and Judaism carry out activities in Azerbaijan keeping friendly relations with each other. Touching on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, he noted that Armenia as a terrorist state occupied 20% of Azerbaijani lands, over million refugees and IDPs were ousted from their native lands and live in hard conditions and appealed this authoritative organization to support the fair cause of Azerbaijan. In the frame of conference, Mr. Pashazade met with the Minister of Interior Affairs of France Nikoley Sarkozi, Minister Phillip Dust-Blazi, Chairman of World Islamic People’s Leadership Organization Muhammad Sharif and others. Mr. Pashazadeh told on reforms conducted in the country, absence of any problems between religions, and highly appreciated development of all-sided relations between France and Azerbaijan. The conference was attended by Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France Eleonora Huseynova, dean of theology faculty of Baku University, corresponding member of NAS Vasim Mammadaliyev and Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Northern Caucasus Muftis Ismail Verdiyev.
