‘Azerbaijani women try to solve conflict by the peaceful way’ head of the State Committee for Women Problems Zahra Guliyeva emphasized speaking at the international conference on the topic ‘Role of women in Central Asia’, held in Almaty.

Speaking about hard consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Upper Karabakh, Ms. Guliyeva stressed that during the armed conflict the Armenians took 327 women and 56 children as hostages. In spite of the fact that in 1995, on the initiative of Azerbaijan, the UN passed resolution “On liberation of women and children, arrested as a result of armed conflicts’, this problem is still unsolved. However, Azerbaijani women try to find peaceful solution.

After the conference, spouse of the President of Kazakhstan, honorary chair of the National Commission for Women and Family Affairs, President of ‘Bobek’ Fund Ms. Sara Nazarbayeva met with the members of conference. Discussed were the matters of family and children, activity of the Children Fund.
