AZERBAIJAN`S FOREIGN MINISTER SPEAKS AT 118TH SESSION OF COUNCIL OF EUROPE COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov has addressed the 118th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers
Mammadyarov stressed cross-cultural and interreligious dialogue had become of one the most important issues arousing the interest of international community. He also highlighted the need to expand relations with the Organization of Islamic Conference, Council of Europe and other international organizations concerned.
Foreign Minister noted Baku is poised to host the informal conference of European Ministers of Culture in December this year in Baku, which will deal with the cross-cultural dialogue of civilizations. Representatives of the Council of Europe, ISESCO and ALECSO are scheduled to attend the meeting.
Foreign Minister Mammadyarov said the unsettled conflicts still exist in some European regions and this fact arouses concern. The Minister stressed the conflicts harm people`s security, sustainable development. The conflicts has a negative impact on people`s security and sustainable development.
According to him, Azerbaijan is committed to international law principles and norms and OSCE Minsk Group-led peace talks.
The Minister briefed on Azerbaijan`s stance on the conflict, which envisages withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh, reintegration of Nagorno-Karabakh into Azerbaijan`s political, economic, legal and social systems, rehabilitation of war-hit regions, returning of internally displaced people to their homes, co-existence of Azerbaijani and Armenian communities in Nagorno-Karabakh. All these preconditions will create necessary conditions for determining the status of Nagorno-Karabakh within Azerbaijan.
