Azerbaijan`s Parliamentary delegation joins TurkPA`s events in Kazakhstan

A delegation of Azerbaijan`s Parliament led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov has attended a meeting of the Council of Assembly of TurkPA and the organization`s 6th plenary session.

The delegation included committee chairman of the Parliament Ahliman Amiraslanov, MPs Chingiz Ganizade, Ilham Aliyev, Sadagat Valiyeva, Sevinj Huseynova, head of the Parliament`s Apparatus Safa Mirzayev and other officials.

The Council meeting of the organization discussed the results of Azerbaijan`s chairmanship, annual activity of the TurkPA Secretariat.

The attendees of the 6th plenary session heard reports on elections held in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Mr. Asadov informed the attendees on Azerbaijan`s activity during the chairmanship to the organization, and spoke about the cooperation between the member states in the fields of information and media.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov has met Chairman of the Majilis Kabybulla Jakupov. They discussed boosting cooperation between the countries in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian fields.

Kabybulla Jakupov applauded the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan to the Assembly in gained achievements and increasing the efficiency of the activity of TurkPA.

The Azerbaijani delegation has attended the International Conference “Statehood and Parliamentarism in the Great Steppe” as a part of the 6th Plenary Session of TURKPA. The event was organized by the Turkic Academy and attended by heads and members of the national delegations of the TURKPA member countries, delegation of the Hungarian Parliament, diplomatic corps and prominent scientists.

The conference was dedicated to the history of parliamentarism in Turkic world and issues of deep study of the common statehood traditions in the Great Steppe.

The conference included the opening ceremony of the copy of the historical monument “Mangі Tas”, which was built in the VII century BC by Ilterish Qutlugh, the Khagan of the Eastern Turkic Khaganate.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov delivered speech at the conference.

Chairman of the Majilis Kabybulla Jakupov delivered a speech of welcome.

During the session of the TurkPA Council, the chairmanship in this Parliamentary organization was handed over from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan.

Kabybulla Jakupov thanked Azerbaijani parliamentarians for the work conducted during their chairmanship in the TurkPA.

“TurkPA is an important dialogue platform among the Turkic-speaking countries, whose status rises year by year. TurkPA is a parliamentary dimension of the Turkic integration.” he stressed.

The Majilis Speaker congratulated his colleagues on successful parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

The participants heard the reports about the activity of the TurkPA in 2014 and on utilization of the budget of the Secretariat last year. They discussed also the organization’s draft budget for 2016 as well as the date and the place of holding the next plenary session.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Kazakh Majilis Kabibulla Dzhakupov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Asylbek Zheenbekov, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly Ismet Kahraman and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov were awarded the medals for their contribution to strengthening cooperation among the peoples of the Turkic-speaking countries.

The members of the delegations also attended the events reflecting commonality of cultural traditions of the Turkic-speaking states.
