Azeri ambassador attends ceremony to restore WWII memorial in Czechia
Baku, May 10 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Czechia Tahir Taghizade has attended a ceremony to restore a WWII memorial in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czechia.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Jablonec nad Nisou Petr Beitl, Czech deputy defense minister Rudolf Blazek, as well as ambassadors of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and 1st secretary of the French embassy.
The Azerbaijani ambassador put wreaths on the gravesite of the WWII victims and the Rinovice memorial. The Ambassador made remarks at the ceremony, saying Azerbaijan sent 600,000 people to the front.
Taghizade thanked the embassies of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine for participating - together with Azerbaijan`s embassy - in the project to restore the Rinovice monument.
Czechia`s defense ministry allocated 1.7 million CZK for the repair of the memorial, while the embassies of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine donated 100,000 CZK each. The Jablonec nad Nisou government allocated 1.2 million CZK.
