Baku, May 23, AZERTAC
“Restoration work is currently progressing in the liberated territories. These efforts are in full compliance with Azerbaijan’s obligations within the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The hosting of the COP29 Conference is an opportunity to demonstrate Azerbaijan’s active involvement in fighting the climate change on the global scale, as well as the country’s commitments in the relevant sphere. Hosting this prestigious event is a great achievement for Azerbaijan. During the event, we will do our best to showcase not only Azerbaijan’s strides in the fields of climate and environment, but also the country’s rich nature, culture and history,” Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev told journalists.
Touching upon the ongoing large-scale restoration process in the Karabakh region, the ecology minister said: “The process includes reforestation works, as well as other various projects. Reconstruction of the ecological research stations is also underway in the region. This process requires great efforts and is ongoing on a large scale. The projects implemented in the liberated territories are contributing significantly to revival of the Azerbaijani nature, as well as social and economic development of the region.”
