Azeri Industry and Energy Minister, EU Energy Commissioner sign protocol of intent
Baku, January 14 (AZERTAC). A protocol of intent has been signed today between Azerbaijan`s Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Natig Aliyev and Gunther Oettinger had conversation during which the Azeri Minister briefed Commissioner on the ongoing oil and gas reforms in his country. The Minister said cooperation with the European Union has great prospects, adding Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to implementation of the projects on the agenda.
Aliyev described the protocol of intent as a next step to solve duties stemming from the tasks of President Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
Oettinger, in turn, underlined the importance of the Joint Declaration on Southern Gas Corridor signed Thursday between President Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
He added “our cooperation will give impetus to development of mutually beneficial relations”.
