Korean Dongsung Engineering’s daughter company has submitted a draft of the Baku Bay Sea Bridge project to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Transport, Sadraddin Mammadov, a head of the Ministry’s Department of Transport Policy and Economy, told AZERTAC.
He said the road bridge to stretch 13.3 kilometers above the sea from the Baku bay to Zykh area and join the ring road circling the capital of Azerbaijan is planned to carry two-way, four-lane automobile traffic.
“Apart from helping with elimination of traffic jams in Baku, the bridge will promote tourism on the Baku bay island of Nargin”, Mammadov added.
He also stressed that the draft project presented to the Ministry suggests that it will be a toll bridge, and be handed over to the Azerbaijani side after the construction expenses are repaid.
Construction of the road bridge is expected to last 8-10 years.
