The second national seminar on the subject “Bio-diversity strategy - plan of activity” was held at the Institute of Genetic Resources of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (NASA).

In his opening remarks, the national coordinator of the “Bio-diversity strategy - plan of activity” Project Zeynal Akbarov stated that in accordance with the “Convention on biological diversity” singed in 1992 by 156 states and European Union, the seminar is held in the frame of UN Development Program.

Aim of the Project is to determine the purpose and positions of the bio-diversity strategy in accordance with the proposals put forward by representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture, Ecology and Natural resource, and Education, other committees and departments, research centers and institutes.

Representative of the Global Ecology Fund Mr. Gabriel Labbat dwelt on the Fund’s activity.

Conformity of the proposals put forward by representatives of the International Flora and Fauna Organization to the said Convention, as well as ways of preservation and increase of the biology diversity were discussed.
