Visit of such an authoritative delegation of WB has a great importance, the Prime Minister noted in his greeting remarks. He stressed satisfaction with the meetings and negotiations held by members of the delegation in Azerbaijan, Giving high assessment to level of ties between Azerbaijan and this international finance Organization, Mr. Rasizadeh thanked the leadership of the World Bank for all-round assistance rendered to the Country to overcome the hardships of the transition period.
Despite the opinion spread among the economic experts on suspend of the WB cooperation with Azerbaijan after achieving high economic indices in connection with realization of global energy projects, the Prime Minister said that the Republic would further need cooperation with the Organization. He also noted that the Country would be a donor-state after 7-10 years.
Expressing gratitude to members of the delegation for attention to the need of refugees and IDPs, Mr. Rasizadeh updated the guests on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, as a result of which the armed forces of Armenia has occupied 30 percent of Azerbaijani territories and over 1 million of people were ousted from their homelands. “Azerbaijan is keen in peaceful resolution to this conflict, approach to its settlement by a number of states and several world organizations from the standpoint of do8ble standard, however, led to destructive position of the Armenian side in settlement of the question according to the norms of international law”, Artur Rasizadeh stated.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the WB executive director Tanvir Ali Aga, thanked head of the Azerbaijan Government for warm reception, expressed satisfaction with the level of the conducted economic reforms in the country. He noted that during the visit to Salyan region, they watched realization of the WB project, as well as the Sangachal terminal. I was shocked with the plight of refugees in placed in Bilasuvar region, the Executive Director underlined.
Members of the delegation expressed a hope for further cooperation of Azerbaijan with this financial structure.
